## Simon Kirby, MP for Brighton Kemptown and Peacehaven, has welcomed the passing of the first stage of a *Ten Minute Rule Bill* on ending the use of wild animals in circuses.

**Simon has been a strong** supporter of this issue which he feels very strongly about, and has raised the matter regularly with Ministers at the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

**After the Bill was heard today, Simon said:** *“I was pleased to be in the Chamber today to see the Ten Minute Rule Bill being introduced, in particular as I have been a strong supporter of banning the use of wild animals in circuses.*

*“I will continue to press the Government to introduce this ban, and to bring the UK’s legislation over this topic into line with many other European nations.”*
