**Wales**' largest celebration of LGBTQ+ people from global majority communities will return later this month as **Glitter Cymru** marks a decade of community organising and advocacy.

The Cardiff-based charity has announced that **Glitter Pride 2026** will take place on **Sunday, 23 August** at the **Temple of Peace** in **Cardiff**, bringing together performers, speakers and community members for what organisers say will be their biggest Pride celebration to date.

The event forms part of Glitter Cymru's 10th anniversary programme and will feature live music, drag, comedy and dance performances from queer artists, alongside talks reflecting on the organisation's achievements over the past decade and its ambitions for the future.

Among those scheduled to appear are **DJ SEKSU**, drag performer **Miss Dynasty** and singer **Kabambi**. Complimentary food and drink will also be provided by **Climate Cooks**, recognising the role that food plays in bringing communities together.

Founded in 2016, Glitter Cymru is Wales' largest grassroots charity supporting LGBTQ+ people from global majority backgrounds. The organisation works to tackle marginalisation and improve representation, while providing social, cultural and support programmes for its members across Wales.

Glitter Pride 2025

This year's Pride celebration carries the theme of **Global Solidarity** and is the culmination of a summer programme of events in Cardiff. The charity will host a comedy night at **Porter's** **Cardiff** on **7 August**, featuring a performance of *The Corner Shop*, before premiering a new documentary about Glitter Cymru's journey at **National Museum Cardiff** on **13 August**.

The documentary, directed by **Raven Gough** and **Alisha Ahmed**, co-chair of **Glitter Siblings**, explores the organisation's history through archive footage and interviews with members and supporters.

Reflecting on the charity's first decade, Glitter Cymru co-chair and treasurer **Numair Masud** said the organisation had become a vital source of support for some of the most marginalised LGBTQ+ people in Wales. "Glitter Cymru has made such a difference to the lives of the most marginalised LGBTQ+ people. It has literally saved lives," he said.

"Standing side-by-side with LGBTQ+ asylum seekers in immigration court on behalf of Glitter Cymru reinforced the need to continue championing community support. It was a highlight, not only for me, but more importantly for those who live to tell the tale of courage, resilience and hope.

"Our Pride event this year feels extra special, as we celebrate creating a safe and uplifting environment for queer people. It has become an important space for community-building and support, and I'm really proud to play a part in that."

Founder **Vish** said the charity remains committed to expanding the support available to its community in the years ahead. "We are deeply committed to providing for our community," they said.

"Our ambition is to strengthen our community fund to support our ongoing initiatives, as well as invest in local queer talent, and create a dedicated budget for a counselling service for the most vulnerable individuals in our community.

"We're excited to keep evolving too: we want to learn from, connect with, and celebrate the various LGBTQ+ global majority communities worldwide."

As well as entertainment, Glitter Pride will include speakers sharing personal stories and reflecting on the charity's efforts to empower and uplift queer people from global majority backgrounds over the past decade.

The event is free for Glitter Cymru members, with proceeds from ticket sales supporting the charity's ongoing work across Wales.
