#GENTLEMANJACK TOUR @ BRIGHTON Sallis Benney Theatre

The writers of the theme song for hit BBC 1 drama Gentleman Jack are going on tour – and you can see them perform their hit song live.

The theme song was written by Huddersfield folk duo O’Hooley & Tidow back in 2011

The BBC/HBO drama Gentleman Jack, written and directed by BAFTA winner Sally Wainwright and featuring Suranne Jones as the extraordinary Anne Lister and theme song from British radical folk band [**O’Hooley & Tidow** ](http://ohooleyandtidow.com/about/?ref=scenemag.co.uk)as the closing theme tune. The drama received the highest audience viewing figures of any BBC drama in 2019\. Filming starts in 2020.

[Belinda and Heidi’s b](http://ohooleyandtidow.com/?ref=scenemag.co.uk)oundless songwriting has been described by **The Guardian** as ‘exceptional’ and **The Independent** as ‘defiant, robust, northern, poetical, political folk music for the times we live in.’ Their song ‘**Gentleman Jac**k’ features as the closing theme song for **Sally Wainwright’s** latest **BBC/HBO** drama series **Gentleman Jack**. From an emotionally charged song about an elephant orphanage in Nairobi, to a joyous celebration of the Leeds cycling champion **Beryl Burton**, they explore, consider and connect subjects and stories in a distinctive, inventive and memorable way.

Normally, you only get that closeness in the voices with family bands like **The** **Coppers** or **The Watersons.’**
