# Eddie Izzard standing to be Labour MP for Brighton Pavilion at next General Election

**Eddie Izzard**, who also goes by the name **Suzy**, has revealed she is standing to be **Labour** MP for the **Brighton Pavilion** seat in a new promo video released on social media.

The announcement comes after the **Green Party**‘s **Caroline Lucas** – current MP for Brighton Pavilion – announced she [was stepping down](https://www.scenemag.co.uk/caroline-lucas-green-mp-for-brighton-pavilion-to-stand-down-at-next-general-election/). **Sian Berry** was [last month announced as Green candidate](https://www.scenemag.co.uk/sian-berry-selected-as-candidate-to-follow-caroline-lucas-as-next-green-mp-for-brighton-pavilion/) for the next **General Election**.

Eddie Izzard, who previously said she didn’t want to stand on an all-woman shortlist as she identifies as gender fluid, would be Labour’s first transgender MP if she gets elected.

Izzard has promised to inject a bit of fun into politics – which “can be a bit dry”.
