Music has been embedded in my life ever since I was in the womb, my mum and dad basically raised me on music, especially POP music! I grew up listening to **Madonna**, **Mariah Carey**, **Kylie Minogue**, **Spice Girls**, **Britney Spears** and even **AQUA** and I’ve always been obsessed with pop culture and **Eurovison**! I love yapping about my favourite songs and album of the month every month with the world from **Scene HQ**!

### Madonna and Kylie Minogue - Love Sensation - Afterhours Mix

I'm still not over it. **Madonna** and **Kylie Minogue.** Together. On the same track. On the same stage. Yessss we're officially in gay heaven!

This is the collaboration we've been manifesting for what feels like 84 years and somehow it exceeded every impossible expectation. A housey, disco fuelled dance fantasy that was absolutely worth the wait. We literally waited decades for Madonna and Kylie to finally collab properly. Now that it's happened, it feels less like a collaboration and more like a cultural event. A moment. A miracle. After M brought *Club Confessions* to **WorldPride** in **Amsterdam** last month, the rumours that had been swirling for years finally became reality. Fans hardly had time to process the announcement before Kylie emerged on stage for a surprise appearance and together they debuted *Love Sensation (Afterhours Mix)* in a moment that instantly made pop history.

The song, lifted from M's UK chart topping album *CONFESSIONS II* has become her highest charting single in 17 years. Not since *Celebration* peaked at Number 3 in 2009 has Madonna climbed this high. *Love Sensation* now delivers her record extending 65th UK Top 10 single, further cementing her place among chart royalty. Fun fact: only two artists in history have amassed more UK Top 10 hits and that was **Elvis Presley** with 76 and **Cliff Richard** with 68....and now Madonna! Even more impressively, Madonna's 65 Top 10 singles stretch across four decades: the 1980s, the 1990s, the 2000s and now the 2020s. The Queen of Pop simply refuses to stop making history!

As for Kylie, *Love Sensation* becomes her 37th UK Top 10 single, an achievement that's remarkable in its own right. Her run spans an astonishing five consecutive decades from the 80s all the way through to the 2020s, proving once again that pop longevity doesn't get much more iconic than this. I need to mention Kylie's verse too, it's perfection. Her vocal tone melts seamlessly into M's, complementing it beautifully while still bringing that unmistakable Kylie sparkle. It doesn't feel forced or gimmicky. It feels like these two legends were always meant to perform together. 10 out of 10\.

### Disco Bambino and Nile Rodgers - Dancing Without You (feat. Sophie Ellis-Bextor)

Some collaborations are exciting. This one feels like destiny. Italian producer **Giuseppe Savoni** (I have an uncle Giuseppe by the way, hi uncle Billy if you ever read this!)aka **Disco Bambino** has pulled off the impossible bringing together the luminous **Sophie Ellis-Bextor** and the undisputed king of disco guitar **Nile Rodgers** for *Dancing Without You*, a track so effortlessly glamorous it practically arrives wrapped in a mirror ball.

Sophie's timeless vocals drip with sophistication and heartbreak while Nile's instantly recognisable guitar lines remind everyone why he helped create the blueprint for disco in the first place. Together the trio transform the song into something bigger than a simple collaboration. It's a celebration of disco's past, present and future. Sparkling, euphoric and impossible to resist, *Dancing Without You* doesn't just nod to the golden age of **Studio 54**. It struts straight onto the dancefloor and demands the spotlight. Dramatic I know but it's true!

### Peggy Gou, Ayra Starr - Wo, man

Arguably the coolest person on the planet, **Peggy Gou** has teamed up with **Ayra Starr** for *Wo, man*, a sun soaked anthem bursting with freedom, confidence and pure summer euphoria. Built around themes of independence and shared joy, the track pairs Peg's effortlessly stylish production with Ayra's charisma filled vocals, creating a collaboration that feels completely natural from start to finish. As Peggy explained, she knew she needed a voice that could match the song's uplifting energy, and Ayra brought exactly the right mix of "sexiness and swag" to the record.

Their chemistry isn't exactly a surprise though. Earlier this year Peg's remixed Ayra's *Where Do We Go?* hinting at the creative spark between them and *Wo, man* fully delivers on that promise. The release also caps off a remarkable run for Peg's whose genre hopping versatility continues to earn admiration across the music world. From remixing Madonna's *I Feel So Free* to inspiring artists as diverse as **Drake** and **Sexyy Red**, her influence is everywhere right now. Most importantly, though, *Wo, man* is just a massive vibe.

### MNEK - MUSCLE MARYS..

**MNEK** is keeping it real on *MUSCLE MARYS..*, a sharp, relatable take on body image, self worth and the sometimes superficial realities of modern dating. Over a breezy, UKG-infused pop production, he reflects on the attention that suddenly appears when you're deemed desirable. Questioning whether people are interested in the person underneath or simply what's on the surface. It's witty, honest and likely to strike a chord with plenty of listeners, especially anyone who's navigated dating apps.

The track is lifted from MNEK's long awaited second album *Bulldozer*, arriving this month YAY (18th September). Serving as the follow up to 2018's *Language* (which somehow feels both yesterday and a lifetime ago), the project is already shaping up to be MNEK's most personal work yet. Catchy but self-aware and delivering sharp observations all at the same time, *MUSCLE MARYS..* is the kind of song that makes you dance while quietly calling you out. *Bulldozer* can't arrive soon enough.

### Becky Hill - what do i have to do?

OMG **Becky Hill** is making sure my excitement for *REBECCA* is at dangerous levels. The latest preview of her upcoming third album which is arriving this month (25th September) is *what do i have to do?*, a brutally honest and ridiculously catchy pop anthem that finds Becky writing with more vulnerability than ever. Exploring ambition, visibility, self worth and the constant push and pull between wanting more while protecting yourself, it feels deeply personal without ever losing its hit making punch and kick!

The official music video expands on the satirical world introduced in *More! More! More!* as Becky begins in the familiar territory of one of those get ready with me vlogs before things spiral into a darkly funny send up of beauty culture, looksmaxxing and internet obsession with appearance. What makes it hit even harder is that every bizarre beauty treatment shown is paired with real comments Becky has received about her looks on social media. The result is an uncomfortable but incredibly effective commentary on the unrealistic standards women are expected to live up to online. It's clever, it's cutting and it's another reminder that Becky isn't afraid to say something meaningful while delivering an absolute pop banger. With *REBECCA* just around the corner, I'm ready for the album.

### Troye Sivan - She's The Best

**Troye Sivan** is back but don't expect another *Rush*. *She's The Best* swaps sweaty dancefloors for something more introspective, unfolding as a dreamy slice of alternative pop that feels kinda nostalgic for some reason. Beginning with spoken word verses before gradually blooming with guitars, strings and shimmering synths, it's giving me major '90s vibes in the best possible way. Describing the song as a painting of his life in all its moods and colours, Troye said it explores both the euphoric highs of recent years and the loneliness that can exist beneath them. At its heart is a celebration of femininity and the people who have helped shape him, from women and trans women to drag queens, feminine presenting people and the wider influence of the feminine in his life and creativity. As a fellow gay boy I really connect with that perspective. I know that the way many queer men find comfort, inspiration and identity through female figures is such a nuanced and often overlooked experience and Troye captures it beautifully on *She's the Best*.

The official music video also features fellow Australian icon **Nicole Kidman** because who would better appear in a love letter to femininity? Thoughtful, emotional and quietly gorgeous, *She's The Best* reveals a softer side of Troye while still feeling unmistakably him. Oh and *She's The Best* serves as the title track from Troye's forthcoming album due in October. If this beautifully understated first taste is anything to go by then I reckon we could be in for his most personal and emotionally rich project yet.

### Lena Katina - Love Yourself

**t.A.T.u.** icon and legend **Lena Katina** has returned with her first English language release since 2021 and it's exactly the kind of uplifting anthem many of us need right now. *Love Yourself* delivers a simple but powerful message. Stop measuring yourself through other people's expectations and start embracing who you are. Built around themes of self acceptance, confidence and personal growth, it's an empowering reminder to be kinder to ourselves in a world that often encourages the opposite.

The song was originally released in Russian as *Полюбить себя* and Lena revealed that she decided to record an English version after loads of requests from international fans who wanted the message to reach a wider audience. Warm, uplifting and packed with positivity, *Love Yourself* feels like a much needed hug in song form. If you're looking for three minutes of pure feel good energy, this one is well worth adding to your playlist....and for hardcore t.A.T.u. fans like myself, it sounds very t.A.T.u. right?!

### ALL'N - Dream Higher

If you're not familiar with **ALL'N** aka **Sam Sungmin Kang** yet, now's the time to change that hun. The K-pop soloist, singer, songwriter and **SKS Entertainment** founder built his name from the phrase "all in" and the Korean word for violin, a fitting tribute to a life that began in classical music. Before stepping into pop, he spent years as a competitive violinist honing his craft through intensive training and performance. That classical background remains at the heart of his music. Refusing to let the violin stay confined to concert halls ALL'N developed what he calls "violin-driven K-pop", blending his instrumental roots with contemporary pop production.

The result is *Dream Higher*....an uplifting anthem packed with melodic rap, soaring vocals, electric guitar and futuristic electronic textures. What begins as a personal story quickly explodes into a stadium sized chorus built for maximum impact. It's ambitious, inspiring and most importantly, an absolute bop!

### Taylor Swift - I Knew It, I Knew You (From Toy Story 5)

I'm still yet to see **Toy Story 5** and honestly I'm devastated about it. **Taylor Swift** released *I Knew It, I Knew You* for the soundtrack though and it's a gorgeous return to her country roots inspired by *Toy Story's* beloved cowgirl **Jessie** aka **Jessica Jane Pride**....such a cool name! Written from Jessie's POV (I think), the song is packed with warmth, heart and classic TS storytelling. It feels authentically tied to Jessie capturing her journey with a tenderness that's impossible not to fall for.

Director **Andrew Stanton** summed it up perfectly saying the song felt so connected to Toy Story that it seemed like it had always belonged there and I totally get what he means. Also....Taylor Swift. Toy Story. TS x TS. Right?! Did anyone else notice that? Anyway Taylor said she'd dreamed of writing for these characters since childhood and that she was so inspired after seeing an early screening of the film that she wrote the song as soon as she got home. Sometimes, as Taylor put it, "you just know."

## AOTM: Icona Pop - Ritual

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I honestly wasn't expecting **Icona Pop** to release one of my favourite albums of 2026 but they have! On their first full length project in years, Swedish duo **Caroline Hjelt** and **Aino Jawo** better known as Icona Pop trade pure chaos for something deeper without losing the euphoric energy that made us fall in love with them in the first place. The result is a late night electro pop odyssey packed with towering synths, dancefloor ready hooks and some of the most vulnerable songwriting of their career.

Across the album, the duo explore heartbreak, healing, friendship, motherhood, reinvention and joy, turning the dancefloor into a place of release, reflection and transformation. At its heart, *Ritual* feels like a declaration of self acceptance. Caroline and Aino embrace every version of themselves from being mothers, entrepreneurs, creative partners, friends and to women who have weathered life's biggest changes together.

"It's always been us against the world," the duo explained. "But now it feels like we've built a world of our own." That bond runs through every second of the album. Written during a hugely transformative period that saw both women become mothers within days of each other, return to **Sweden** after years in **Los Angeles** and navigate heartbreak, anxiety and personal upheaval, *Ritual* channels real life experiences into something genuinely moving.

Rather than running and hiding from difficult emotions, they leaned into them, creating what may be their most honest body of work yet. Nowhere is that emotional depth clearer than on *Hurt*. Beginning with sparse piano and fragmented vocals before exploding into a cathartic electronic release, it's the sound of heartbreak slowly loosening its grip. It's devastating, healing and uplifting all at once.

The magic of *Ritual* is that it manages to make vulnerability feel huge. These songs were clearly born from tears, uncertainty and difficult conversations, but they emerge as triumphant pop anthems filled with hope. It's emotional. It's euphoric. It's empowering.

Most importantly, it's proof that Icona Pop are far more than the duo behind *I Love It*. *Ritual* finds them at their most confident, most honest and, arguably their very best. I love it!
