I love sharing my favourite songs and album every month with the world from **Scene HQ**! ## Katie Price - *I Got U* Let's go back to 2017....**Katie Price** has just released an absolute anthem called *I Got U* as part of her short-lived pop career. The campy banger criminally didn’t make much of a splash at the time ​but in true nostalgia-fueled fashion it’s now enjoying a viral and resurgence. Never underestimate the Pricey! It randomly soared to number one on the **iTunes** chart, but I reckon the track’s revival was driven by a wave of online support with fans rallying behind Katie amid her ongoing public disputes and personal challenges. With pulsing synths and a confident, almost hypnotic vocal delivery, Demi channels a kind of futuristic cool that’s both nostalgic and fresh. *Fast* gives early 2010s club vibes but with a more refined, grown-up edge-like your favourite party anthem got a glow-up and a therapist. Demi took to Instagram to share her excitement about the new release, writing: "I’m so excited to share this song and video with you! We filmed it straight through the night last month, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. To me, it reflects how I move through life now—unbothered by the noise and chaos around me, and fully in control of where I’m headed." Personally, I think *Fast* is a solid win. It’s not trying too hard to be deep or edgy, it just feels like a celebration of resilience and reinvention. Also I can't help but think *Dangerous and Moving* by **t.A.T.u.** IYKYK. ## Doja Cat - *Jealous Type* Doja Cat’s Jealous Type is a vibey, retro-tinged bop that feels like scrolling through your old Tumblr feed-equal parts glitter, angst, and self-awareness. With shimmering synths and a throwback ‘80s groove, she leans into her pop sensibilities while still keeping that signature Doja edge. The track dives into messy emotions-jealousy, insecurity, and the blurred lines of modern love with lyrics that are both cheeky and introspective. Her vocals are breezy and chill, but she doesn’t shy away from dropping a few sharp bars to remind us she’s still got bite 1 2 3\. *Jealous Type* is a smooth, stylish ride through the emotional chaos we all know too well. It’s relatable without being too heavy and catchy enough to loop on a late-night playlist. ## Rita Ora - *Joy* **Rita Ora** is back with Joy-a warm, gospel-tinged pop anthem that feels like a big, sparkly hug for your soul. The production blends her usual pop flair with soulful undertones, making it feel both familiar and fresh. ## Mike Taveira - *Hit and Run.mp3* **Mike Taveira**’s *Hit and Run.mp3* lives up to its name-it hits hard, leaves a mark, and vanishes before you can catch your breath. It’s messy, magnetic, and totally self-aware. ## Joey Essex - *Close To You* **Joey Essex** is a DJ now?! And maybe a singer, I'm not sure who's vocals are on this track but anywaaaay *Close To You* is a surprisingly fun, sun-soaked dance cover that brings a nostalgic ‘90s track into the 2025 club scene with a cheeky **Essex** twist. It’s got that unmistakable **Ibiza**\-after-dark energy-glittery synths, a pulsing beat, and Joey’s signature charm layered over a familiar melody. It’s pure end of summer escapism, like sipping a cocktail in a beach bar while pretending your phone isn’t blowing up. ![](https://www.scenemag.co.uk/content/images/2025/09/image-4.png) I honestly didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did. For us millennials who remember Joey from his reem **TOWIE** days, this feels like a playful comeback that doesn’t try to be more than it is-a fun, flirty bop that’s perfect for your weekend playlist. ## Girls Aloud - *Singapore (Definitive Version)* To celebrate 20 years since **Girls Aloud** released their *Chemistry* album, it will be released on vinyl for the first time and includes *Singapore*\-one of Girls Aloud's lesser-known gems, originally recorded during the sessions for their 2005 album but ultimately released as a B-side on *The Sound of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits*. The track stands out for its subtle, moody tone and introspective lyrics, particularly the haunting chorus line, “Dark streets only suffocate me.” and features newly expanded sections featuring a previously unheard pre‑chorus from **Sarah Harding**. ![](https://www.scenemag.co.uk/content/images/2025/09/image-6-1.png) **Nicola Roberts** takes the lead vocals, delivering a performance that’s both delicate and emotionally resonant, showcasing her underrated depth within the group. The production, courtesy of **Xenomania**, is minimalist compared to their usual high-energy pop, yet it retains the group's signature edge and innovation. While it may not have the immediate punch of *Biology* or *Sound of the Underground*, *Singapore* is a compelling bop that deserves more recognition especially for fans who appreciate the darker, more experimental corners of pop music. ## Florence+ The Machine - *Everybody Scream* *Everybody Scream*, the title track from **Florence + The Machine**’s upcoming album, is a visceral, theatrical anthem that plunges into the emotional and physical toll of performance. Co-written with **Mitski** and **Mark Bowen** of **IDLES**, the song is both a celebration and a reckoning-a ritualistic exploration of the ecstasy and agony that **Florence Welch** experiences on stage. With lush vocals, pounding drums and a chorus that commands “Everybody dance… Everybody scream,” the track transforms into a communal chant, blurring the line between performer and audience. Flo's lyrics are rich with gothic and mystical imagery-“blood on the stage,” “a bouquet of brambles,” and “shaking my gold like a tambourine”-evoking both the beauty and brutality of her art as always. For fans of Florence’s more theatrical and introspective work, *Everybody Scream* is a powerful and spellbinding experience. ## noonoouri, Max and Harvey - *Release Me* *Release Me* is a sleek, emotionally charged pop track that blends the digital mystique of **noonoouri** with the heartfelt vocals of **Max and Harvey**. The song explores the tension between desire and liberation capturing the emotional push and pull of a toxic relationship. The production is polished with a pulsing beat that supports the song’s dramatic arc, while the interplay between noonoouri’s ethereal delivery and Max and Harvey’s grounded harmonies adds a compelling dynamic. In case you didn't realise, noonoouri is the first ever AI popstar “with a human soul” or the first “digital character” that is signed to a major record deal. noonoouri might seem like a novelty at first, but her presence adds a futuristic flair that contrasts nicely with the raw emotion Max and Harvey bring. It’s a track that feels both current and slightly surreal-perfect for fans of polished pop with a conceptual twist. ![](https://www.scenemag.co.uk/content/images/2025/09/public.jpg) ## AOTM: Alison Goldfrapp FLUX ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The wait is over! **Alison Goldfrapp** reunitedwith **Richard X** for her second solo studio album, *Flux* and marks a bold yet introspective chapter in her solo journey, released under her own label **A.G Records**. The album was written during a period when Alison was single for the first time in years and leans into shimmering synth-pop textures and ethereal vocals, offering a dreamy soundscape that’s both delicate and deliberate. Tracks like *Find Xanadu* and *Reverberotic* evoke a vaporous, almost weightless atmosphere with Alison’s signature sensuality woven through pulsing beats and misty melodies. There’s a sci-fi glow to the production-proggy synths and strobed rhythms lend the album a soft, futuristic edge. With themes like longing, emotional distance, and the search for fantasy are compelling. ![](https://www.scenemag.co.uk/content/images/2025/09/image-9.png) *Flux* is an absolute delight-every track sparkles with irresistible ear candy and bursts of joy that feel like little gifts to unwrap. It’s the kind of album that makes you want to just float. I’m officially putting all my energy into manifesting a *Flux* tour….the world needs to experience this live. ![](https://www.scenemag.co.uk/content/images/2025/09/image-10.png) Every track on the album feels like a little universe I want to live in. *Hey Hi Hello*, *Strange Things Happen*, *Reverberotic*, *Find Xanadu*, *Cinnamon Light*, *Sound & Light*, *Ultrasky*, *Perfect Lies*, *Magma*, and *Play It (Shine Like a Nova Star)-*I genuinely love them all. It’s rare to find an album where skipping a track feels like missing out on a moment of magic. If I had to choose though, I’d be torn between *Hey Hi Hello* (which could totally be taken from the **Goldfrapp** *Head First* album right?!) and *Strange Things Happen*. They're both so different but so addictive. *Hey Hi Hello* is pure serotonin, it's infectious and somehow makes me feel like I’m walking into a sunlit room every time it starts. I’ve actually started opening my emails with "Hey hi hello” now and it weirdly makes everything feel more joyful and less transactional. *Strange Things Happen* hits differently. There’s something haunting and hypnotic about it. That 80s club-scene synth-pop vibe wraps around you like neon fog, and Alison’s vocals especially when she teases the upper range are just sublime. It’s like she’s dancing on the edge of something mysterious and beautiful. I find myself replaying it late at night when the world’s quiet and I want to feel a little electric. Oh and on *Cinnamon Light*, I feel like there’s something warm and nostalgic there, like a memory you didn’t know you had?! Each track feels like it unlocks a different part of me. It’s not just music, it’s mood, memory and movement. I loveeeed Alison's 2023 debut solo studio album *The Love Invention (*her first full-length project under her own name away from her efforts as part of electropop duo Goldfrapp) but *Flux* is my fave, 100%.
