Music has been embedded in my life ever since I was in the womb, my mum and dad basically raised me on music, especially POP music! I grew up listening to **Madonna**, **Mariah Carey**, **Kylie Minogue**, **Spice Girls**, **Britney Spears** and even **AQUA** and I’ve always been obsessed with pop culture and **Eurovison**! I love yapping about my favourite songs and album of the month every month with the world from **Scene HQ**!

### Steps - Scared of the Dark - Shadows & Secrets Halloween Mix

It's my favourite time of year so there was no way I was leaving this one buried in the crypt! Thanks to **Steps**, their delightfully camp *Shadows & Secrets Halloween Mix* breathes new undead life into their 2021 hit *Scared of the Dark*, transforming it into a spine tingling pop treat....not a trick!

Ray Burmiston

It's gloriously fangtastic, packed with pumpkin spiced drama and guaranteed to haunt your ears in the best possible way.

### CHVRCHES - Roses

Scottish trio **CHVRCHES** have risen from their musical graveyard with a track that's anything but a zombie retread of their past successes. *Roses* ditches some of the glossy synth pop sparkle that first put them on the map and instead wanders into a fog filled haunted house of industrial beats, political tension and eerie "Ring-a-ring o' roses" imagery.

**Lauren Mayberry** sounds less like a pop star and more like the stylish host of a very unsettling séance, calmly delivering society's obituary while the world burns behind her. What makes *Roses* such a wicked treat is that beneath all the cobwebs, paranoia and creeping dread, CHVRCHES haven't lost their gift for monstrously catchy hooks. It's dark, punchy and deliciously unghostly in its ambition, proving that after all these years they're still carving out new paths through the moonlit forest rather than shambling around dressed as their former selves.

### Sugababes - Ghost

THE ALBUM IS FINALLY CRAWLING OUT OF THE GRAVE! If you're an original **Sugababes** fan from the start like me, then the album announcement is the musical equivalent of spotting a full moon on Halloween. The girls self titled album marks their first full length project together in 26 years since their 2000 debut, *One Touch* (if you don't include *The Lost Tapes*) and it'll be out in February 2027....not long now witches!

*Ghost* isn't technically the first single from the album, as previous singles *Jungle*, *Weeds* and *Shook* all made the tracklist too which I'm so glad about because I love them all. I don't know why I feel like *Ghost* is the lead single though?! *Ghost* takes the messy remains of a relationship, buries them six feet under, then spends three deliciously bitter minutes conducting a pop exorcism for the ex who just won't stay dead.

Complete with funeral imagery, haunted memories and a chorus aimed squarely at someone still being chased by the ghost of a past romance. Add in the trio's effortlessly chilled energy and those instantly recognisable harmonies that first put them on the map and you've got a track that's less trick and more treat.

### Go-Jo, Sheppard - Halloween Movie

This song knows exactly what costume it's wearing and absolutely commits to the character. Teaming up with **Marty Zambotto** aka **Go-Jo** and indie pop hitmakers **Sheppard**, *Halloween Movie* is a fangtastically fun track that feels like a haunted house party somehow crashed into the charts and emerged with a radio hit.

Yesssss this is the very same *Milkshake Man* who represented Australia at Eurovision 2025 by the way, and as if that wasn't enough spooky synergy, he also co-wrote both *Milkshake Man* and *Halloween Movie* with Sheppard.

The result is a wickedly catchy slice of pop full of campy charm, cheeky humour and enough seasonal spirit to raise the dead. Underneath all the cobwebs, pumpkins and spooky movie references lurks an irresistibly infectious chorus that clings to your brain like a friendly ghost long after the song has vanished into the night. It's silly and erm boo-tiful....consider this one a Halloween treat that's absolutely worth getting hexed by!

### Patrik Jean - Fatal Eyes

Swedish pop favourite **Patrik Jean** is back with *Fatal Eyes* and while the title sounds like the villain in a particularly glamorous Halloween film, the song is actually a euphoric dance pop rush about falling so hard for someone that you completely lose your footing. Following his return to **Melodifestivalen** earlier this year with *Dusk Till Dawn*, his first appearance in the competition since *Tears Run Dry* in 2021, Patrik takes that momentum straight from the Eurovision universe onto the dancefloor.

*Fatal Eyes* captures the delicious thrill of letting someone cast a spell over you even when every instinct is screaming that you might be wandering straight into a haunted house. With its pulsing production and irresistible hooks, *Fatal Eyes* feels like being lured into the fog by a beautiful vampire and happily following anyway. Fittingly, the song was originally called *Quicksand* and that feeling remains at its heart. The deeper you fall, the harder it is to escape. Patrik once again proves he's mastered the art of blending emotional vulnerability with dancefloor ready bangers. If you've not heard it yet, enjoy witches!

### Mariah Carey, Channel Tres - All My Life - Channel Tres Remix

If you ever needed proof that a classic R&B favourite can rise from the grave without losing an ounce of its soul, the *Channel Tres Remix* of *All My Life* is proof, surely?!

> [ View this post on Instagram ](https://www.instagram.com/p/DeNN31nJDpz/?utm%5Fsource=ig%5Fembed&utm%5Fcampaign=loading)

Originally haunting the tracklist of **Mariah Carey**'s *Glitter* era, this 2026 remix sees **Channel Tres** work his magic without turning the song into a generic club monster. Instead, he dusts off the original, polishes the cobwebs away and wraps Mariah's silky vocals in a groove that's effortlessly cool rather than frighteningly trendy. Don't worry, Mariah's vocals remain the undisputed queen of the haunted mansion, bringing all the warmth, romance and charm that made the original so beloved, while Channel Tres injects just enough swagger to give the track a fresh pulse. As part of the 25th anniversary celebrations for *Glitter*, it's a reminder that some songs don't need a mad scientist's makeover, just the right collaborator to help reveal a new supernatural side.

### Rogue Traders and Dannii Minogue - Dirty Dirty Disco

If ever there was a song designed to soundtrack a disco, *Dirty Dirty Disco* is it. The collaboration between **Rogue Traders** and **Dannii Minogue** sees two Australian dance pop icons conjure up a glitter covered monster of a tune.

At just two and a half minutes, the track doesn't linger in the haunted house for too long, instead swooping in like a perfectly timed jump scare before disappearing into the night. It's camp, dazzling and packed with more sparkle than a vampire's wardrobe. I'm crossing my broomsticks that this is the beginning of a full return to the studio for Dannii.

### Ricky Martin and Pedro Sampaio - pikito pikito

**Ricky Martin** has spent decades making the world dance, but *Pikito Pikito* proves he's still got enough musical magic in his cauldron to conjure up a monstrous and.... vibrant hit!

> [@nfl](https://www.tiktok.com/@nfl?refer=embed&ref=scenemag.co.uk "@nfl") rio is ROCKING [#rickymartin](https://www.tiktok.com/tag/rickymartin?refer=embed&ref=scenemag.co.uk "rickymartin") [#pedrosampaio](https://www.tiktok.com/tag/pedrosampaio?refer=embed&ref=scenemag.co.uk "pedrosampaio") [#nfl](https://www.tiktok.com/tag/nfl?refer=embed&ref=scenemag.co.uk "nfl") [#rio](https://www.tiktok.com/tag/rio?refer=embed&ref=scenemag.co.uk "rio") [♬ original sound - NFL](https://www.tiktok.com/music/original-sound-7690344722520247053?refer=embed&ref=scenemag.co.uk "♬ original sound - NFL")

Teaming up with Brazilian DJ and producer **Pedro Sampaio**, Ricky stirs together a bubbling potion of pop, funk, samba, reggaeton, mambo and salsa that's so infectious it had me ready to abandon all responsibility and book a holiday before the first chorus had finished. By the way, *pikito pikito* translates as quick kiss oh and caution: this song latches onto you like a particularly persistent Halloween spirit and refuses to leave. The gloriously repetitive hook haunts your brain after a single listen, rattling around like a skeleton in a cupboard. Oh and the boys performed pikito pikito at the **NFL Rio Halftime Show** last month at the **Maracanã Stadium** in **Rio de Janeiro** which was epic!

Ricky brings his legendary charisma and Latin pop star power, while Pedro throws in enough high energy Brazilian production to raise the dead and keep the party shambling long into the night. At around three minutes, it doesn't overstay its welcome either, arriving like a perfectly timed jump scare before disappearing into the darkness, leaving behind a colourful whirlwind of joy that's impossible not to dance to. Consider this one a certified Halloween party banger even if it's more vampire beach holiday than haunted house.

## AOTM: Tove Lo - Estrus

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Leave it to **Tove Lo** to make emotional chaos sound this much fun. Tove Lo is one of my favourite artists of all time and I remember when I first discovered her music back in 2015 and being so excited to dive into her music catalogue. I don't often get that feeling with an artist.

Even **Kylie Minogue** is a fan and said "She has that amazing Swedish pop sensibility but her very own style." which is so true! ESTRUS had to be my album of the month. I'm constantly listening to it and I've got my vinyl. This album feels like the darker, messier cousin *Lady Wood* and *Blue Lips* revisiting her favourite themes of lust, heartbreak and self destruction but with a sharper focus on the anxiety and vulnerability lurking underneath the hedonism. If *Dirt Femme* was the glitter covered night out, *ESTRUS* is the walk home through the fog wondering what just happened. Every track on *ESTRUS* feels haunted by a different emotional demon. *I'm Your Girl, Right?* casts an immediate pop spell with its hypnotic house pulse and possessive lyrics.

*A Lot of Feelings, No Solutions* arrives like a ghostly apparition disappearing almost as quickly as it appears. It's too short! *DNH* and *FAMT* revisit Tove's classic territory of booze fuelled bad decisions and emotional avoidance, feeling like familiar skeletons emerging from the closets of her earlier albums. They're fun, but longtime fans maybeeeeee might recognise a few of the tricks. Maybe. The real treats IMPO come when Tove embraces the uglier emotions. *Idiot* buzzes with nervous energy, capturing the relatable and terrifying spiral of self doubt that follows a relationship wobble.

*I'm The Cake* is hilariously petty in the best way, turning jealousy into a campy revenge fantasy that feels like handing out cursed Halloween treats. I can't get over "Open my legs and I'll show you Sweden"....I actually laughed out loud! Meanwhile, *Are We On A Break* might be one of the strongest songs she's ever recorded, transforming a simple moment of relationship uncertainty into a full blown haunted house panic attack, complete with euphoric synths.

> [View this post on Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/reel/DefGTg-PTUd/?utm%5Fsource=ig%5Fembed&utm%5Fcampaign=loading)

*roomie* is one my favourite tracks on the album. (Don't make me choose only one). It's one of Tove's most tender and songs, pairing dreamy production with lyrics that capture the blurred line between loneliness and longing. Its intimate storytelling and understated vulnerability make it a standout track that feels both deeply personal and universally relatable, right?! Oh and fun fact: that's a voice clip from her husband on there! Towards the end of *ESTRUS*, *Source of Life* changes the mood entirely. Rather than another late night disaster, it finds Tove reflecting on adulthood, purpose and motherhood with surprising tenderness. It's a reminder that beneath the vampire fangs, messy eyeliner and dancefloor escapism, she's always been one of pop's most honest and refreshing songwriters and that's why I'm a huge fan!

I need to mention *des fleurs x stromae* because it finds Tove at her most reflective, blending French lyrics, delicate melodies and a haunting sense of longing into one of her most intimate recordings. The track’s understated beauty and emotional vulnerability make it a captivating departure from her more provocative pop moments. I was definitely surprised when I first heard this one but in a good way! Not every track on the album lands like a perfectly timed jump scare though and like I mentioned earlier, occasionally *ESTRUS* wanders familiar territory explored on *Queen of the Clouds*, *Lady Wood*, *Blue Lips*, *Sunshine Kitty* and *Dirt Femme* although I'm not mad about that tbh huns because I love all of Tove Lo's albums and often revisit them. When *ESTRUS* fully gives itself over to the tension between desire and dread it's absolutely spellbinding. Like one of the best Halloween parties you've been to, it's chaotic, sexy, slightly unhinged and impossible to leave before the lights come on.
