# Bursary and development opportunities for Black, Asian and ethnically diverse creatives

**Writing Our Legacy CIC** is currently working with **South Downs National Park Association** and **Changing Chalk**, led by **National Trust**, to deliver programmes which connect Black, Asian and ethnically diverse communities and creatives to the landscape of the South Downs through art and storytelling.

### **Shifting the Gaze Bursary Round 3**

In autumn 2022, Writing Our Legacy is offering **12 bursaries of £400** to Black, Asian and ethnically diverse/BPoC writers in Sussex, Hampshire or the wider South East to research and develop new writing or project work with a focus on the landscape of the South Downs.

Grantees will have four months to undertake a funded research and development period. They will also receive two mentoring sessions from the [writers on our mentoring service](https://writingourlegacy.org.uk/mentors-on-our-mentoring-service/?ref=scenemag.co.uk) which will include two x 40-minute Zoom tutorial and feedback sessions on up to 2,500 words or three poems not exceeding a total of 2,500 words.This opportunity is open to established and emerging writers, who are signed up to Writing Out Legacy’s [free membership scheme](https://writingourlegacy.org.uk/about/creatives-network/?ref=scenemag.co.uk) at the time of application.

### ***Covert* Talent and Professional Development Programme 2022-23**

This is a great opportunity for eight Black, Asian and ethnically diverse/BPoC writers in Sussex, Hampshire or the wider South East to develop their practice with a range of professional writers, who will provide a programme of creative writing workshops and mentoring from **November 2022** to **April 2023**.

Participants will have a chance to be published in the third issue of Writing Our Legacy’s [Covert literary magazine ](https://writingourlegacy.org.uk/writers-artists/covert-a-new-literary-magazine/?ref=scenemag.co.uk)which will focus on the theme of the nature and heritage of the South Downs, with guest editor **Jessica Lee** and guest editorial board **Jasmine Qureshi** with other writers to be confirmed. The programme will include four creative writing workshops with Jessica Lee, Jasmine Qureshi, **Elaine Chiew** and **Zita Holbourne** FRSA.
