# Brighton's historic Theatre Royal  opens its stage door for free Open Morning

[**Theatre Royal Brighton**](https://www.atgtickets.com/shows/2-22-a-ghost-story/theatre-royal-brighton/?ref=scenemag.co.uk) is inviting the public behind the scenes this **Saturday, 8 August**, for a free **Open Morning** running from **10am - 2pm**, with entry via the venue's historic **Stage Door** on **Bond Street**.

For a city long celebrated as one of the UK's LGBTQ+ capitals, the event offers a rare chance to explore a piece of Brighton's cultural heritage up close. Built in 1807, the Grade II\* listed theatre is one of the oldest in the country, and this weekend it's opening doors that are usually kept firmly shut to visitors.

Guests will be able to step into the Star Dressing Room for a dress-up photo opportunity, explore the theatre's history, and meet members of the team behind its upcoming season. Younger visitors can get creative with the theatre's ATG Inspire programme, making and taking home a free puppet, while a merchandise stall will sell posters, programmes and memorabilia from the theatre's archives. A silent auction will also run on the day, offering the chance to bid on exclusive, money-can't-buy experiences.

All proceeds from the morning will go to **LEAF** (Live Education and Arts Foundation), the theatre's partner charity, which works to widen access to arts and education for young people and communities, and to support a diverse and dynamic future for the UK's creative industries, according to Theatre Royal Brighton.

The event is free, family-friendly and open to all, no booking required. Just head to **Stage Door** on **Bond Street** between **10am - 2pm** this Saturday to take part.
