## Steve Bustin and John Williams, became the 500th couple to convert their Civil Partnership (CP) status to marriage at Brighton & Hove Register Office on Monday, September 28, 2015 at 10am.

**The final step to** marriage equality took place on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 when anyone in a civil partnership could convert to a marriage if they chose to do so.

**BHCC’s lead councillor for city services, Les Hamilton, says;** *“Steve and John are the 500th couple in Brighton and Hove to convert their Civil Partnership to marriage, making us the busiest register office in the country to-date for conversions and affording us an accolade we’re very proud of.”*
