The **BAHM project** was founded by local artists and businessmen Garry Jones, Phil Oldershaw and Andrew King. The proposed memorial will be in the LGBTQIA+ village, Hurst Street, Birmingham.

A planning application (2021/06870/PA) was submitted for the memorial on August 13\. Garry Jones is now asking for as many people as possible, **not just those in the Birmingham area**, to [go online](https://eplanning.birmingham.gov.uk/Northgate/PlanningExplorer/Generic/StdDetails.aspx?PT=Planning%20Applications%20On-Line&TYPE=PL/PlanningPK.xml&PARAM0=1158249&XSLT=/Northgate/PlanningExplorer/SiteFiles/Skins/Birmingham/xslt/PL/PLDetails.xslt&FT=Planning%20Application%20Details&PUBLIC=Y&XMLSIDE=/Northgate/PlanningExplorer/SiteFiles/Skins/Birmingham/Menus/PL.xml&DAURI=PLANNING&ref=scenemag.co.uk) and submit their positive comments about the project, and say why they believe a memorial is needed in Birmingham.

“If anyone objects, the more support we have the better it is for us to get the planning application through,” Garry said.

People have until Saturday September 11 to add their support comments to the planning application, and more details, including a reveal for the memorial’s design, are coming soon.
