## **Mike Weatherley, the Conservative MP for Hove and Portslade**, backs a Diabetes UK campaign to encourage residents to know their risk of diabetes by carrying out a risk assessment, which can be done by simply visiting a local pharmacy, GP or even checking online.

**The Diabetes UK campaign** aims to help people understand the seriousness of Type 2 diabetes, which can lead to devastating health complications such as amputation, blindness and stroke, so that people understand the importance of preventing it.

**Mike said:**

> *“A large number of my constituents may be at risk, so I would encourage everyone to check that level of risk and act accordingly. Type 2 diabetes is a very serious condition that can lead to devastating health complications, all of which has a huge impact on both the people affected and their families.”*
