One more thing too, Kylie's unofficially announced a 2027 world tour to celebrate an incredible 40 years in music! Honestly, what a time to be a Kylie fan. Anywaaaay, all this Kylie....*Fever* (IYKYK) got me thinking about something we don’t talk about enough: her albums. In the **UK**, we claimed Kylie as a national treasure decades ago. Despite allll the stats you could throw around about sales and longevity, one thing often gets overlooked, Kylie really is a phenomenal album artist. As early as *Rhythm of Love* (1990), she understood that strong albums were essential for a lasting career. Her bold reinvention on her 1994 self titled record was unexpected, brave and exactly what she needed. Since then, she’s taken creative risks with albums like *Impossible Princess* and *Body Language* when sticking to the formula would’ve been easier. She’s also gifted us flawless pop and disco masterpieces such as *Fever* (2001), *Disco* (2020) and most recently *Tension II* (2023). When Kylie gets it right (which is basically 98% of the time) it feels euphoric but even when she misses, there’s always something still ahem, *Golden* in the mix. Again IYKYK! I’ve taken on the impossible task of ranking her studio albums and making the case that Kylie is one of pop’s most underrated and versatile album artists so let’s dive in….head first! ### 17.Kylie (1988) ![](https://www.scenemag.co.uk/content/images/2026/05/image-22.png) Kylie's music career began in 1987 when expectations were apparently low for soap opera stars turned singers. Yet her debut single *I Should Be So Lucky* (written in an hour after producers **Stock Aitken Waterman** forgot she was coming, became a five week UK number 1). Her debut album *Kylie* in 1988 sold five million copies and became the year’s biggest album. I love that the biggest album of the year I was born was *Kylie*. Tracks like *Turn It Into Love* and *Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi* showed early hints of her pop versatility. With *Spinning Around* and *On A Night Like This*, Kylie reclaimed her place as a dancefloor icon. The album’s camp exuberance set the stage for her next global breakthrough and *On A Night Like This* is my ultimate favourite Kylie song! To be honest, I think it's a masterpiece. It's definitley her most personal and experimental album, shaped by travel and introspection. Mixing trip hop, techno and rock, it was misunderstood in 1997 but now it's been reappraised as one of her boldest works, so basically Kylie was ahead of her time! ### 1.Fever (2001) ![](https://www.scenemag.co.uk/content/images/2026/05/image-19.png) It was honestly so hard choosing my number 1 Kylie album, I changed my mind so many times but I've settled with *Fever*. Well not settled, that's the wrong word, but *Fever* was just an epic album and possibly her commercial peak?! *Can’t Get You Out of My Head* topped the charts in more than 40 countries which is wild and the album sold over six million copies. I was obsessed with (and still am) with *In Your Eyes* and *Love at First Sight*. **Kylie* (the documentary) premieres on Netflix on May 20 and **Tension Tour Live* premieres on Netflix on May 27.
